What is the cancellation policy for custom trip? 

• Cancellations outside 21 days receive a 100% refund.

• Cancellations inside of 21 days you will receive a 50% refund of the total monies paid.

• If canceling while staying double occupancy, your roommate will result in a price increase to stay single occupancy, or your refund amount will be withheld to cover your roommate’s price difference.

 

What are the payment details?

• When booking your tennis and accommodations through CDT, you are prepaid in full for your trip, except for incidentals. When you check-in at the front desk, you will be required to put a card on file for incidentals. The Mauna Lani Resort will put a hold amount on your card which will drop off upon check-out minus any incidental charges. 

• If you have any questions regarding your incidental charges, please contact the front desk at check-out. If you still have questions upon leaving the resort, reach out to your travel specialist with CDT.

What is the address to the main hotel?

• Check-out is at 12pm 

• Late check out is subject to availability and upon request. Late check out fees apply beginning at 2pm and is based on availability. In order to secure a confirmed late check out after 6pm we require the purchase of the additional night.​​

Can I request a roll away bed? 

• There are rollaway and crib options at the Mauna Lani Resort. Options vary depending on room type

Does the Mauna Lani Resort allow pets? 

• Yes, Mauna Lani allows service dogs. Please note that dogs must remain on a leash when on resort grounds.

• For deep cleaning purposes, Mauna Lani charges $250 per dog.

• Pet amenities and services include dog beds in addition to food and water bowls.​

Can I ship a package to the Mauna Lani? 

• Yes, you are able to ship packages to the Mauna Lani for your arrival. CDT cannot assist or guarantee any packages are not lost in transit once signed in the mail room. If your name is not the primary name on the room reservation, the resort will reject the package. For more information, please contact the Mauna Lani concierge.

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

How does the transportation to and from the airport work? 

• Mauna Lani Resort is 21 miles (25 minutes) north from the KONA airport. The resort does not offer direct transportation to and from the airport, however, the pre-Arrival team can arrange private transportation. For inquiries and bookings, please contact mnl.prearrival@aubergeresorts.com with your flight information.

How can I get around the resort property? 

• The resort does have cars that can take you to the tennis courts, or there are bikes available for rent at no cost by valet.

Does the resort offer valet or self parking?

• The resort parking fee of $40.00 will be applied per vehicle for hotel guests for self-parking.

• The Mauna Lani does not offer valet parking.

What is the number for the tennis pro shop? 

• If you need to reach out directly to the tennis pro shop with any questions, please call 808-885-7765 

 

Where are the courts located? 

• The Wellness and Tennis Center is located one block from the main hotel.

• If staying at the resort, you are able to ride the complimentary shuttle to and from the courts or walk.

How can I request lesson times or game matching services?

• When registering, please outline your preferred times for lessons each day. We do our best to accommodate them based on availability with our staff for each day throughout your trip. We cannot guarantee your preferred time, but we will get as close as possible. 

• Our coaches are happy to help game arrange with other resort guests and locals during your trip. We cannot guarantee any specific match ups until you have arrived. We always recommend talking to guests in the morning clinics, as they are typically looking for more play as well.  

 

What do the daily morning/afternoon tennis clinics from 9-10am and 2-3pm focus on?

• The first hour focuses on technique, and the second hour builds on point play and strategy. Each day has a specific focus. 

• Our goal is to keep the player to coach ratio under 6:1, and many times it is 4:1.  

• Mon- Groundstrokes (Forehand and Backhand, hitting from the baseline, ball bounce) 

• Tue- Volleys (out of the air at the net) 

• Wed- Doubles Strategy 

• Thur- Live ball/point play clinic 

• Fri- Groundstrokes 

• Sat- Volleys 

• Sun- Doubles 

 

Can I add on court reservations for additional play on my own? 

• When booking your tennis and accommodations through CDT, you are able to reserve courts for additional play on your own at no additional cost. We can accommodate up to 2 hours/group/day. Requests can be made prior to arriving and are based on availability at the time of inquiring.  

• If booking your accommodations separately, you are unable to reserve courts to play on your own due to resort rules.

After booking, can I add on additional clinics and lessons? 

• Yes. Even after booking, please reach out to your tennis travel concierge from your original quote, and they are happy to look at adding on additional clinics or lessons at the a la carte rate. Adding on clinics and lessons are based on availability.

Is there a dress code at the Tennis Center?  

• Tennis shoes are required on the courts, but clothes of any color are allowed.  

​

Are rackets available to demo?

• Yes, our tennis pro shop offers a variety of Head tennis racquets and pickleball paddles for demo, and they are full service with stringing.

Where can I order groceries? 

• We recommend ordering groceries from Foodland Farms Market at 68-1330 Mauna Lani Drive, #200
  Kamuela, HI, 96743. Foodland Farms offers both curbside and delivery options. 

​

What are the reservation information for meals on the property? 

• Mauna Lani has many dining options on property, and more information can be found online here.

• CanoeHouse- is the fine dining option on property, and I always recommend the ‘MY’ menu that is a new 5 course menu every night.

• Hale Ho'aloha Lū’au- Feast amongst the company of dear family and friends while listening to tales of Kalāhuipuaʻa and the five mountains that surround Mauna Lani. When the sun sets and the stars begin to shine, stick around for the fire knife finale and an array of desserts infused with local flavors.

• HaLani or HaBar are other options on property for outdoor dining overlooking the pool and ocean.

• Clubhouse Bar- open to all who wish to kick back, relax and enjoy libations, light bites and the simple pleasures of island time.

• The Market- a great option for a coffee, and café. Inspired by New York’s iconic delis incorporating fresh ingredients cultivated on the Island of Hawai’i.

• Surf Shack- After you’ve experienced the inspiring ways of Kainalu, kick back, relax and reflect on the invaluable memories you’ve made as you savor fresh bites and local brews on the deck.

 

What are the off-property recommendations?

• Please see below restaurants that I would recommend off the resort property. If you need help making dinning reservations, concierge is happy to assist. 

• Napua - Within walking distance from the hotel by taking the beach path. 

• Tommy Bahama - located at the Shops at Mauna Lani 

• Roy Yamaguchi- located about 10 minutes away at the King Shops. 

• Umekesrestaurants- a 40-minute drive to Kailua Kona, offers some of the best Poke in town. 

• Fosters Kitchen - located in Kailua Kona about a 40 minutes' drive. offers great ocean front dinning along Ali'i drive. 

• Merrimans Hawaii - One of Hawaii's most famous chefs, Peter Merrimans is a great choice for modern Hawaii cuisine. Located in Waimea about a 25-minute drive. 

• Manta - Similar to our Canoe House located at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. about a 15-minute drive. 

• Lava Lava Beach Club - Really popular casual dining option about 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. Walk in only they do not take reservations. 

• Seafood Bar and Grill- Casual option about 15 minutes from the resort. This does not have a view, but it is a local favorite tiki bar.

WEATHER

What is the average weather in Kamuela, Hawaii?

• On the island, rainfall is quite rare, making it an ideal destination for outdoor activities. However, the island features a variety of microclimates, so if you plan to explore beyond the resort, it's wise to pack a jacket and a raincoat for unexpected changes in weather.

• ​Winter: This season offers excellent opportunities for whale watching and ideal surf conditions with bigger waves.

• Summer: While the waves are smaller, summer is perfect for snorkeling, allowing you to fully enjoy the vibrant underwater life.

 

What if it rains or we experience inclement weather throughout our trip? 

• If rain or weather affects any of the scheduled tennis, the Director of Tennis will do their best to reschedule while you are there. If they are unable to do so, we will issue a refund for any missed tennis.
