What are the payment details?

• When booking your tennis and accommodations through CDT, you are prepaid in full for your trip, except for incidentals. When you check-in at the front desk, you will be required to put a card on file for incidentals. The Rio Mar will put a hold amount on your card which will drop off upon check-out minus any incidental charges. 

• If you have any questions regarding your incidental charges, please contact the front desk at check-out. If you still have questions upon leaving the resort, reach out to your travel specialist with CDT.

Can I request a roll away bed? 

• There are rollaway bed options that vary depending on room type. Rooms with 2 Queen beds do not allow roll away beds

Does the Rio Mar Resort allow pets? 

• If you wish to bring your pet along when you visit Rio Mar arrangements must be made during your reservations process. Pets 35 lb. and under may join our guests at Rio Mar when registered with the hotel. All pets must be either carried or on a leash at all times. A $75.00 non-refundable deposit is required at check-in; such deposit is not inclusive of damage to the premises caused by the pet. Service animals are allowed at all times

Can I ship a package to the Rio Mar? 

• Yes, you are able to ship packages to the Rio Mar for your arrival. CDT cannot assist or guarantee any packages are not lost in transit once signed in the mail room. If your name is not the primary name on the room reservation, the resort will reject the package. For more information, please contact the Rio Mar concierge.

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

How does the transportation to and from the airport work? 

• The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar is located 23 miles from the San Juan International Airport. The resort offers direct transportation to and from the airport through a third party. To reserve this, please go online here: https://fareharbor.com/gsipuertorico-online If you are going to rent a car, please try Enterprise or National for a Cliff Drysdale Tennis discount (https://legacy.enterprise.com/car_rental/deeplinkmap.do?bid=028&refId=CLIFFDRY). The resort has an Enterprise rental car location on site.

How can I get around the resort property? 

• The resort offers an internal shuttle that can take you to all amenities across the resort

Does the resort offer valet or self-parking?

• o   Yes, the resort offers daily self parking or valet. Daily self-parking is $15.00 plus tax, and daily valet parking is $20.00 per car plus tax.

Where are the courts located? 

• The Tennis center is onsite located to the left when exiting the main lobby. 

• If staying at the resort, you are able to ride the complimentary shuttle to and from the courts or walk.

How can I request lesson times or game matching services?

• When registering, please outline your preferred times for lessons each day. We do our best to accommodate them based on availability with our staff for each day throughout your trip. We cannot guarantee your preferred time, but we will get as close as possible. 

• Our coaches are happy to help game arrange with other resort guests and locals during your trip. We cannot guarantee any specific match ups until you have arrived. We always recommend talking to guests in the morning clinics, as they are typically looking for more play as well.  

 

What do the daily morning/afternoon tennis/pickleball clinics focus on?

• Tennis Clinic focuses on technique and strategy through drills and games suitable for all skill levels.

• Cardio Tennis provides a high-energy workout, allowing participants to burn calories while having fun.

• Tennis Round Robin is a competitive format where players face different opponents and partners.

• Pickleball Clinic emphasizes technique and strategy through drills.

• Pickleball Clinic + Play, which introduces participants to the rules of the game before transitioning into competitive match play..

 

Can I add on court reservations for additional play on my own? 

• When booking your tennis and accommodations through CDT, you are able to reserve courts for additional play on your own at no additional cost. We can accommodate up to 2 hours/group/day. Requests can be made prior to arriving and are based on availability at the time of inquiring.  

• If booking your accommodations separately, you are unable to reserve courts to play on your own due to resort rules.

 

After booking, can I add on additional clinics and lessons? 

• Yes. Even after booking, please reach out to your tennis travel concierge from your original quote, and they are happy to look at adding on additional clinics or lessons at the a la carte rate. Adding on clinics and lessons are based on availability. 

 

Is there a dress code at the Tennis Center?  

• Tennis shoes are required on the courts, but clothes of any color are allowed.

Are rackets available to demo?

• Yes, our tennis pro shop offers a variety of Head tennis racquets and pickleball paddles for demo, and they are full service with stringing.

Do you want to add on golf to your stay?  

• The Rio Mar has two championship golf courses. This can be added to your trip directly with the golf pro shop. You can book your tee time here or call the Golf Pro Sho at: 800-474-6627

 

Does the resort offer childcare? 

• The resort does not offer any in house kids club or childcare service. They have a 3rd party nanny service you can call at 787-728-9999

Where can I order groceries? 

• There are two grocery stores within 5 miles of the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar that we recommend: Ralphs and Farmcoop. Both offer a variety of products, making it easy for guests to stock up on essentials or snacks during their stay. Whether you need groceries for a picnic or just want to grab a quick bite, these stores provide convenient options nearby. 

 

What is the reservation information/ dining options for meals on the property? 

• Rio Mar has many dining options on property, and more information can be found online here. Roots Coastal Kitchen and Palio are the two on-site dining options that take reservations.

• Iguanas Cocina Puertorriqueña- Delight yourself into authentic Puerto Rican flavors at this scenic dinner restaurant. Located at the Club House overlooking the golf courses, serves up some of the island’s best traditional tastes. 

• Roots Coastal Kitchen- This creative haven of Caribbean comfort food was opened by Executive Chef Ramón Carrillo in collaboration with Top Chef finalists Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth. At this restaurant, farm-to-table goodness is given an inspired flair with plates like grilled swordfish with coconut curry rice and chili mango hot wings. 

• Palio- Indulge in premium steaks complemented by a gourmet assortment of Italian cuisine and seafood with a Caribbean twist. Unparalleled service meets the rich fare of land and sea alongside an expertly curated wine list at Palio Ristorante.

• ​Carabali Bar & Grill- Just steps from all the action at our 600-acre ranch, Carabalí Bar & Grill Restaurant is a Western-themed outpost, renowned for our sizzling steaks and tasty sides made with local ingredients. Open for lunch, dinner or private events.

• Terraza Montemar- Creole food and seafood, family atmosphere, to share with friends and enjoy.

• Lluvia Deli Bar & Artefacto- "We believe in the simple yet profound joy of eating, drinking, and connecting. With a blend of local flavors and global inspirations, our dishes and drinks offer a unique culinary journey, complemented by the warmth of Puerto Rican hospitality."

What is the average weather in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico?

• At the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar, guests can enjoy pleasant weather year-round, with temperatures typically ranging from the high 60s to low 80s. The weather could get up to upper 80s or low 90s in the summer months. This climate enhances the experience of outdoor activities, making it ideal for tennis and pickleball enthusiasts, as well as those looking to explore the beautiful surroundings. Whether you're hitting the courts or relaxing by the beach, the consistently mild temperatures contribute to a wonderful getaway.

 

What if it rains or we experience inclement weather throughout our trip? 

• If rain or weather affects any of the scheduled tennis, the Director of Tennis will do their best to reschedule while you are there. If they are unable to do so, we will issue a refund for any missed tennis.
