If you're able to attend the tournament in person, we highly highly recommend going to either Fan Week (qualifying + practice) or Week 1 of the main draw. This is when there is the most action happening around the grounds. You can find a great match just by walking around, and you'll have more flebility to move around during the day. If you're watching at home, the first week is equally great, because you can watch EVERY single match on ESPN+. The best matches in week 1 are almost always on the outside courts, not the big stadiums. So if you're scrolling through the options, we highly recommend watching a match on a small court, even if you don't know the players yet! Court 17 Never Fails We used to be able to call court 17 a hidden gem of the U.S. Open - it's not really a secret anymore though! But still, if you could only watch one court all day, in person or on your screen, it should be court 17. The design of the stadium allows for great atmosphere at just about every match. It has become the 4th biggest stadium in terms of pecking order for marquee matches, which means ranked players in week one plus lots of American players! Patience Pays Off This one is exclusively for in person fans, but is extremely important! The tournament has become so popular and well attended in recent years, that you can no longer show up to a signature match outside of Arthur Ashe stadium and hope to get good seats, or even a seat at all. So when you know there's a great match scheduled, we recommend finding a seat at the start of the PREVIOUS match, even if it's not exactly what you want to watch. By getting there early you'll have a chance to continually improve your seat on changeovers and set breaks, and avoid the crazy lines to get in once your favorite player has started. The Honey Deuce is Worth It - At Home Too! The signature cocktail of the open - The Honey Deuce - is one of the best signature drinks in all of sports. In fact, in 2023 roughly 450,000 Deuces were sold at the Open. Priced at $22 apiece, they made for a roughly $9.9 million haul. That's some serious business! If you are on site - we recommend grabbing one for yourself and your friends at the same time because the lines can get a little crazy. It's actually possible to get them from the consession stands inside the stadiums as well - Louis Armstrong is usually a good option for slightly shorter lines. If you're at home, you can make the Honey Deuce as well. Here's the recipe: Ingredients
1 ¼ oz | GREY GOOSE® Vodka |
3 oz | Fresh Lemonade |
½ oz | Premium Raspberry Liqueur |
3 | Honeydew Melon Balls |
How to Make
Fill a chilled highball glass with cubed ice and add GREY GOOSE® Vodka - or the Vodka of your choice.
Top with fresh lemonade and raspberry liqueur.
Garnish with a skewer of 1 or multiple frozen honeydew melon balls.
